When we woke up we had to quickly eat breakfast to hit the road and go to the Grand Canyon. It was 225 miles to get there. I’m really afraid of heights so walking on the edge of the canyon was terrifying. Fun fact: the Grand Canyon is 6,001 feet deep and touches 4 states! Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and Colorado. We set up a campsite in the village and checked out the Yavapai geology museum. It was fascinating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then we went horseback riding! We cantered! I rode a sleek white horse named Maya, Maddie rode a brown and tan horse named Snickers, Lilli rode a black horse named Brownie!!!!!! Lilli fell off her horse but she was fine and smiling! Then we had lunch. We all had instant oatmeal! Yum!!!!!!!!
After lunch we went on a hike!!! It was so much fun, and scary! We climbed Saddle mountain!!!!!!!!!!! Saddle mountain is at an elevation of 8,424 feet!!!!!! The summit is located in the eastern Grand canyon, in Coconino county. That took the rest of the day, so when we got back it was time for dinner. We had turkey and cheese sandwiches. But we all had to share a tent! It was fun sleeping right next to my friends! Good night!
