When I first woke up I forgot where I was! Then I remembered, Gabe and I had traveled to San Francisco last night!
(With grown-ups of course.) After waking up we headed to the Golden Gate Bridge and walked halfway across, and
O.M.G the view was amazing! Then we went to Sweet Maple for breakfast and shared a Big Hip which is just
deep fried french toast with a name. After breakfast we went to Pier 39 and on our way to the Mirror Maze we saw
talented street performers who did all kinds of things like balancing on each other, uni-cycling, and much more!
The Mirror Maze was cool and creepy at the same time. There were fake skeletons on the floor which freaked me out.
I mean how could you not be scared? We were lost in a maze with skeletons and everywhere we looked we saw
ourselves. Gabe and I tried to stay together but at one point I turned around and he wasn't there!
By now I was really freaked out but I reminded myself that I had to keep moving because if people came to find me I wouldn't have the challenge of finding my way out. Once I found my way out Gabe was waiting for me and told me
that while he was waiting, he had talked to the staff about finding me and they had joked about going to see the sea lions instead of sitting on a bench waiting for me. "But now" he said "We should go see the sea lions". We did and took lots of pictures.
Then we went to Frequent Flyers which is a bungee trampoline and really I felt like I was flying! (Until I came down again)
After flying high we went down in to the ocean at Aquarium of the Bay. We saw jellyfish and I thought they were
really pretty but when I told Gabe what I thought he said they were "Meh". But when we saw sharks Gabe couldn't
help but admit that they were pretty cool. By then we were really hungry so we went to Fisherman's Wharf for lunch.
I still find it funny that we went there since Gabe and I are both vegetarians, but we got pizza which was like the only thing we could eat. After lunch Gabe told me that he was really tired and just wanted to go to sleep. Then I told him that that
was too bad because we had tickets for a 3 hour tour at Alcatraz Island. When he heard that his eyes widened and he
told me that he actually was not so sleepy. On the cruise to Alcatraz Gabe kept looking at me like, "Couldn't we have taken a faster boat?" I just ignored his glaring and tried to enjoy the scenery. Then I saw something sticking up out of the
water, and I was like, "Gabe! Gabe! Did you see that?" "What?" Gabe asks getting up from his seat. "There!" I point
to where it had been a few seconds ago. "There is nothing there, Mira, Are you okay?" Gabe asks me looking concerned.
"I'm fine Gabe, but there was something there!" I shout. People started looking at us when they heard me shout, but
I did not care. I was DETERMINED to convince him I was telling the truth. Then somebody else from the other side
of the boat screamed "There!" and then I saw all of it, the full whale fin. I knew Gabe saw it too because he mumbled
"I guess you were telling the truth." But I barely heard him because I was taking my camera out and clicking away.
For the rest of the ride Gabe and I spent our whole time looking at the pictures and picking out the best ones.
Even once we arrived at Alcatraz Island I could not get over the fact that we had seen a whale, a real live whale.
Gabe snapped me back to the present and told me that the guide was telling us about when Alcatraz was made a penitentiary. After the tour I had learned a lot and I was quizzing Gabe on Alcatraz Island history.
After that we realized that it was time to get dinner. But we still wanted to ride a cable car since it was especially pretty at sunset. After the cable cars we went on a little walk at ocean beach, so that we could feel the wet sand on our feet and hear the waves crashing next to us. After that we went back to the house and to our surprise my mom had snuck away to get dinner when we were walking back. We had not noticed at the time because Gabe's mom was telling us stories about her travels. So over all I think it was a pretty good day.
