Hi my name is Piper and today we go to Joshua Tree NP! First we had to do the impossible, wake up early. It was annoying but finally, my limbs and head decided to start working and we were on our way. As we drove to Joshua Tree we decided to stop at a gas station for snacks. Thank goodness, I don't know about you but I'm famished! After what felt like hours we finally arrived in Joshua Tree!
We decided that since there is such amazing scenery we should start off our day here with a fun hike. We looked for a hike that would work for all of us, and finally decided to go on the Cholla Cactus Garden Trail. We first made sure we had lots of water, and Nica thought it would be a good idea to bring snacks as well, so we decided on sandwiches and marshmallows even though it wasn't dark yet.
We started the hike and I was really confused, because the map didn't make sense, but then I saw the writing and realized it was sideways. Oliver and I started laughing, and even though Nica was anxious to keep walking, she was quick to join in on the fun. As we walked, I heard a noise, and as we turned around we saw it, a coyote! We watched silently as it slunk past us, weary to approach the pathway, then it scampered off again and Nica, Oliver, and I all started talking at the exact same time. “ OMG that was so coo”- “wow that was incredi”- “did anyone get a photo? I want to see that again!”
After that we kept walking and for a bit. There was silence as we all took in the incredibleness all around us. Soon, we decided to get back because we were all getting pretty hungry and thirsty (we ran out of water a little while ago) and decided to stop at the nearest convenience store for dinner. After dinner, we were all stuffed and exhausted, but we had a deck of cards and played long after the sun had set. Finally, after a particularly exciting round of egyptian rat screw we all decided it was finally time to say good night.
