Day 8: Hello! My name is Nica, and I will write the blog today. We woke up in Arches and I did something I thought I never would do on this trip: WAKE UP EARLY!!!! Yup. before everyone. Even Mr. Potatohead! I was so happy! I finally caught up on sleep. That's when I looked at the clock. 10:27! I wasn’t the one abnormally awake! They were all asleep! I tapped Piper. “Hey. I’m really excited to get to our big day, and Canyonlands Is one of my things I was looking forward to especially.” She jumped up, looking around. “Canyonlands? We leave at 9:00-” She saw the clock. “AHH! You should’ve woken us up much, much earlier!!!” “I just woke up!” I say, panicked even more. Piper considers, before agreeing. “That does sound like you. We have a lot to do, though. WAKE UP!” No one budges. “Oh, c’mon. Now, Nica, 1, 2, 3,” “WAKE UP!” Oliver shot out of bed. “Cake! You’re a imposte-” “Let's get going, eh?” Piper asked. “I dunno about imposters, though.” Oliver blushed. “Sorry, dream.” I suggested we better wake up Mr. Potatohead and eat breakfast, and everyone agreed on that, so I made sloppy (but delicious) egg benedicts with bacon on the side. Mr. Potatohead pointed out it was now 11:06, so we should eat on the go, so 30 mins of our time in the car was eating, and Mr. Potatohead found a shortcut around the traffic, so 34 mins was the whole drive! Very refreshing. As I stepped out, I was petrified in awe. It was so cool! In my opinion, it was Arches and the Grand canyon combined in the best way (though if I said that to my travel companions, I know I would get some argument) We had limited time in canyonlands (we had a big day ahead of us) But I knew it would be a fun 2 hours. We went on a hike and saw an adorable porcupine, and though we steered clear, we took pictures. The porcupine wasn't the only thing I took a picture of. The rocks were carved out so beautifully, and I still can't believe water is so powerful. I
bought 2 stickers of a canyon and arch together. We ate lunch, and our late start caught up to us. Later, we arrived at Monument valley. It was similar to canyonlands, but worse. Afterwards, we made a quick stop at the four corners. I STOOD IN 4 STATES AT A TIME!!! And there are 29 pictures to prove it! I hope people ask me for my autograph! We then drove to Mesa Verde to spend the night. We first ate nachos with Jalapenos for dinner. (Oliver's head blew up) We set up camp and looked at the beautiful vegetation. We played games, and then… sleep.
